President Dumbshit’s Press Conference
From today’s press debacle conference: here’s Bush explaining the putative falsity of reports of widespread abuse of detainees in America’s military prisons.
Not only do the ," they are:
"People that had been trained in some instances to disassemble."
Then with his best, smuggest, chimp-like smirk:
"That means not tell the truth."
Wrong word, President Dumbshit. Actually, to "take apart":
Main Entry: dis-as-sem-ble
Pronunciation: "di-s&-’sem-b&l
Function: verb
transitive senses : to take apart <disassemble a watch>
intransitive senses
1 : to come apart <the frame disassembles into sections>
2 : , <the crowd began to disassemble>
- dis-as-sem-bly/-blE/ noun
The word he meant to use is "." That word means "to hide under false appearance," or "conceal facts, intentions or feelings under pretense."
Like saying we need to disarm Iraq’s deadly WMD posing an imminent threat to America, when what you really want to do is impose a pax Americana on the Middle East, and impress your neocon buddies in the PNAC.
Another good example is Bush talking about "progress" on his Social Security program, and solving its problems with a privatization scheme which will destroy it.
Given that half of everything Bush says involves some form of dissembling, whether he knows the real word or not, he ought to be able to get that one right. When a full transcript is available, we’ll be able to better deconstruct today’s dissembling.
