Hinderaker declares FEMA Brown ?by far the most impressive?
Even his own have that the blogger-formerly-known-as-assmissile
has completely lost his mind. This about Brown’s pathetic “not my fault!” performance in front of Congress just proves it further.
Brownie Kicks Butt
On the whole, Brown did an excellent job. I don’t suppose many people saw his appearance, but of those who did, most no doubt learned something about the division of responsibility in emergency management.
Actually, John, most people who saw his appearance learned something about not taking responsibility in emergency management.
Of those who participated in the hearing, Brown was by far the most impressive. Democratic Congressman William Jefferson of Louisiana was his party’s designated hit-man, but it was painfully evident that his opening speech was a filibuster. He didn’t dare stop talking for fear that Brown would have an opportunity to answer his questions. But it wasn’t just the Democrats; “Republican” Congressman Christopher Shays, too, was an ill-informed disgrace.
It’s hard to say what a marginally-informed citizen would make of the Katrina hearing, but my own impression was that the only person in the room who had any idea what he was talking about was Michael Brown. . . . it doesn’t shock me that the head of FEMA is far more articulate in discussing emergency preparedness than the often dim-witted Congressmen who yammered at him.
Yeah, it’s kind of hard not to be impressed with this kind of poised and articulate dialog from Brownie:
At several points, Brown turned red in the face and slapped the table in front of him.
“So I guess you want me to be the superhero, to step in there and take everyone out of New Orleans,” Brown said.
Nothing like turning red and slapping the table and talking about superheroes when it comes to being articulate!
To which that “ill-informed disgrace” replied:
“What I wanted you to do is do your job and coordinate,” Shays retorted.
Hinderaker closes with this powerful observation:
No doubt FEMA’s performance was imperfect. What else is new? But Michael Brown didn’t flood New Orleans.
Well, hell. If he didn’t flood it, I guess he doesn’t have to deliver aid and relief to the survivors then.
