Heckuva job, Democrats

Congratulations to Reps. Pelosi and Hoyer on passing the Nuremburg Defense into US law.

What this bill means to the Telecoms: The lawsuits they face could be dismissed by a court if the Telecoms proved that they had received directives from the administration that said warrantless wiretapping was legal. They already have that evidence so basically they have been give immunity against all lawsuits with this bill.

So we sanction lawbreaking by telecoms and individuals within the Bush administration, just so long as they were obeying orders from the Leader. Befehl ist Befehl.

Go ahead and congratulate yourselves for this achievement. At least the new law has a sunset and so only sanctions an additional 4 years of lawlessness.

Oh no she didn’t. . .

Oh yes she did:

Clinton compares the Florida and Michigan fight to civil rights movement.

Hillary Clinton compared her effort to seat Florida and Michigan delegates to epic American struggles, including those to free the slaves and win the right to vote for blacks and women.

“This work to extend the franchise to all of our citizens is a core mission of the modern Democratic party,” she said. “From signing the Voting Rights Act and fighting racial discrimination at the ballot box to lowering the voting age so those old enough to fight and die in war would have the right to choose their commander in chief, to fighting for multi-lingual ballots so you can make your voice heard no matter what language you speak.”

Just appalling. There ought to a law similar to Godwin’s law when self-interested egomaniacs invoke the civil rights movement to further their own obsessive quests for power.

Call it “Sharpton’s Law,” or something.

This post is not misogynistic

But “Janus-faced” and “hypocritical” don’t begin to describe this person.

Endless demagoguery

First, Hillary Clinton excoriates Bush for allowing an American company to be sold and the jobs shipped overseas:

Hillary Clinton loves to tell the story about how the Chinese government bought a good American company in Indiana, laid off all its workers and moved its critical defense technology work to China.

It’s a story with a dramatic, political ending. Republican President George W. Bush could have stopped it, but he didn’t.

If she were president, Clinton says, she’d fight to protect those jobs. It’s just the kind of talk that’s helping her win support from working-class Democrats worried about their jobs and paychecks, not to mention their country’s security.

What Clinton never includes in the oft-repeated tale is the role that prominent Democrats played in selling the company and its technology to the Chinese. She never mentions that big-time Democratic contributor George Soros helped put together the deal to sell the company or that the sale was approved by her husband’s administration.

Second, an appearance on FoxNews’s The O’Reilly Factor with the unctuous fallalfel-waving Bill-O to denounce Barrack Obama via the popular surrogate of Flogging Jeremiah Wright:

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday she found remarks by Barack Obama’s former pastor to be “offensive and outrageous” and noted that her Democratic rival had spoken out forcefully against them.

“I think that he made his views clear, finally, that he disagreed. And I think that’s what he had to do,” Clinton said in an interview with Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly. The network released excerpts of the taped interview ahead of its airing Wednesday night.

It was the former first lady’s first appearance on the O’Reilly show, the most popular Fox News program and a staple of conservative media. Over the years, O’Reilly has been a staunch critic of both the New York senator and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

Campaign aides said her appearance on the Fox News show was designed to reach out to working-class, independent white men who could decide the outcome of next week’s Indiana primary.

President Bush: Hypocrite and Miserable Failure

Saudi Arabia is prime source of terror funds, U.S. says

Saudi Arabia remains the world’s leading source of money for Al Qaeda and other extremist networks and has failed to take key steps requested by U.S. officials to stem the flow, the Bush administration’s top financial counter-terrorism official said Tuesday.

Stuart A. Levey, a Treasury undersecretary, told a Senate committee that the Saudi government had not taken important steps to go after those who finance terrorist organizations or to prevent wealthy donors from bankrolling extremism through charitable contributions, sometimes unwittingly.

Saudi Arabia today remains the location where more money is going to terrorism, to Sunni terror groups and to the Taliban than any other place in the world,” Levey said under questioning.

President Bush, in words:

“Protecting your country [from terrorism] is the number-one priority as far as I’m concerned”

“My number one priority is to protect you. . . after 9/11″

In pictures: President Bush (whose number one priority is supposedly fighting terror) holding hands with the ruler of the world’s number one source of funding for Al Qaeda and other terrorist networks:

Fighting terror is Bush’s number one priority, right as long as it doesn’t upset his family’s Saudi financial backers.

You might remember that one of the rationales (and one of the few with any basis in fact) for invading Iraq was Saddam’s financial backing given to the families of suicide bombers, financing on a scale which can only be described as miniscule compared with Saudi financing of al Qaeda.

If One In Four Teenage Girls Have A Sexually Transmitted Disease, What Percentage of Teenage Boys Have A Sexually Transmitted Disease?

According to the Center for Disease Control, a quarter of teenage girls — more than 3 million — have a sexually transmitted disease. There doesn’t appear to be any corresponding research for teenage boys.

The numbers likely seem overwhelming

CHICAGO (AP) — At least one in four teenage girls nationwide has a sexually transmitted disease, or more than 3 million teens, according to the first study of its kind in this age group.

A virus that causes cervical cancer is by far the most common sexually transmitted infection in teen girls ages 14 to 19, while the highest overall prevalence is among black girls — nearly half the blacks studied had at least one STD. That rate compared with 20% among both whites and Mexican-American teens, the study from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found.

About half of the girls acknowledged ever having sex; among them, the rate was 40%. While some teens define sex as only intercourse, other types of intimate behavior including oral sex can spread some infections.

For many, the numbers likely seem “overwhelming because you’re talking about nearly half of the sexually experienced teens at any one time having evidence of an STD,” said Dr. Margaret Blythe, an adolescent medicine specialist at Indiana University School of Medicine and head of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ committee on adolescence.

I hate to come off like a prude or seem naive, but I find the fact that 3 million teenage girls have or have had a sexually transmitted disease a bit disturbing.

I hate when this happens

You know, when you’re visiting the local whorehouse, and you get caught by your spouse. . . or something like that:

Man spots his wife during visit to brothel

WARSAW, Poland - A Polish man got the shock of his life when he visited a brothel and spotted his wife among the establishment’s employees.

Polish tabloid Super Express said the woman had been making some extra money on the side while telling her husband she worked at a store in a nearby town.

“I was dumbfounded. I thought I was dreaming,” the husband told the newspaper on Wednesday.

The couple is reportedly divorcing, but that doesn’t mean John can’t still enjoy his ex-wife’s charms, apparently.
